NYU Langone Will Pay $8.5 Million and UPMC $950,000 to Settle a Justice Department Probe Into How They Billed for Transgender Care for Minors, and Both Agreed to Stop Providing It
The deals resolve allegations that providers used false diagnosis codes to bill insurers and federal programs. NYU had already shut its youth program in February. Mount Sinai, Texas Children's, Cleveland Clinic and Connecticut Children's have signed similar agreements, and DOJ says investigations into other hospitals 'are ongoing.'
