Romanian Prosecutors Indicted Andrew Tate Again. The New Charge Sheet Names Two 15-Year-Olds.

Romanian prosecutors indicted Andrew Tate on Friday on charges of trafficking minors, sex with a minor, and money laundering, reviving a case that collapsed on procedural grounds two years ago. His brother Tristan Tate was indicted on complicity charges tied to the same allegations.

The charges come from DIICOT, Romania's anti-organized crime agency, which has been investigating the brothers since police arrested them in Bucharest in late 2022. DIICOT indicted them once already, in 2023. In 2024 a court handed the file back to prosecutors, citing multiple legal and procedural irregularities in how the case had been assembled. Friday's indictment is the agency's second attempt at the same conduct, rebuilt.

The charge sheet centers on two girls. Prosecutors allege the first was recruited in Luton, England, in 2012, when she was 15, and afterward transported repeatedly to Romania. The second, also 15, was allegedly abused between December 2020 and the middle of 2021. Prosecutors say Tristan Tate knowingly deceived the first girl about his brother's feelings and intentions, that he knew how old she was, and that he knew Andrew had recruited her.

The money laundering count covers a period from December 2023 through July 2024 and involves the purchase of luxury cars, according to prosecutors. That timeline is notable on its own: it falls after the brothers' first indictment, during the stretch when Romanian authorities had released them from custody but kept them under judicial control, including a requirement to report to Bucharest police.

Neither brother is in Romania now. Both are being held in Miami while the United Kingdom pursues extradition on a request filed in July 2026. The British case is separate from the Romanian one, and the two proceedings put competing claims on the same two defendants, which is the kind of jurisdictional tangle that can add months to any resolution.

A lawyer for the Tate brothers in Romania did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The brothers have denied wrongdoing consistently since 2022 and have described the Romanian investigation as politically motivated.

Andrew Tate built an audience of tens of millions across social platforms on a mix of luxury-lifestyle content and instruction to young men about dominance over women, and the Romanian file has followed him through every stage of that rise and the deplatformings that came with it. The 2024 remand cost DIICOT roughly two years. Whether the rebuilt indictment holds up better than the first one is now a question for a Romanian court, and it will be argued while the defendants sit in a Florida jail waiting on a British extradition judge.
