Stellantis Unveils $70 Billion Turnaround Plan, Targets Cash Flow Recovery by 2027
Automaker CEO Antonio Filosa announced ambitious five-year strategic plan worth 60 billion euros at investor day Thursday.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa unveiled an ambitious $70 billion turnaround plan Thursday, targeting positive cash flow by 2027 as the automaker seeks to revitalize its North American operations and strengthen its competitive position in the global automotive market. The five-year strategic plan, worth 60 billion euros, represents one of the largest transformation efforts in the industry's recent history.
The comprehensive restructuring plan comes as Stellantis faces mounting pressure to improve performance across its diverse portfolio of brands, including Jeep, Ram, Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat, and Peugeot. The company has struggled with declining sales in key markets and increased competition from both traditional automakers and electric vehicle manufacturers challenging established players.
As part of the turnaround strategy, Stellantis announced plans to increase North American sales by 35 percent by 2030, with particular emphasis on Ram Trucks and a revival of the Chrysler brand. The company views the North American market as crucial to its long-term success, given the region's importance for profitable truck and SUV sales that generate higher margins than smaller vehicles.
The cash flow targets represent a critical benchmark for investors who have grown concerned about Stellantis' financial trajectory amid industry-wide challenges including supply chain disruptions, semiconductor shortages, and the costly transition to electric vehicles. Achieving positive cash flow by 2027 would demonstrate the company's ability to generate sustainable profits while investing in future technologies.
Filosa's presentation at the investor day outlined specific initiatives across manufacturing efficiency, product development, and market expansion designed to restore confidence in Stellantis' strategic direction. The success of this turnaround plan will be closely watched by industry analysts as a test case for how traditional automakers can navigate the rapidly evolving automotive landscape while maintaining profitability and market relevance.
